Pirkko Räntilä

Pirkko Räntilä is an artist from Oulunsalo, Finland. Her development and her works of art very interestingly show phenomena typical of our time as well as their development and influences.

Pirkko Räntilä began her career in 1953 with art drawing. Later she continued with water colour and oil painting, and in 1967-1968 she concentrated on sculpture. She has participated in several fine-arts courses and training and at the same time she has taken care of her work and family.

Since 1989 Pirkko Räntilä has concentrated on art ceramics. She designs and makes sculptures in her atelier next to her home in Varjakka of Oulunsalo. There is a nice collection of her sculptures in her gallery. There are also other artists' works of art on display.

Pirkko Räntilä has been able to express in a very fascinating way the posture and body language of her raku-fired sculptures made of mixed stonewares. One of the most central motifs of Pirkko Räntilä's sculptures originates from the world around us the question of interaction as well as positive, constructive co-operation between nations, races, nature and people.
